Atticus Circle and Soulforce are proud to launch Straight Takes, an online, do-it-yourself video campaign. Conceived as a continuation of Seven Straight Nights, it gives straight allies of the LGBT community an ongoing venue to tell their stories.

Directions:

  1. Create a video (maximum 2 minutes) and upload to YouTube. If you have never uploaded a video to YouTube before, instructions are available here. There is also software that you can use to edit videos, such as Adobe Premiere Elements (free 30 day trial) for Windows or iMovie for Macs.
  2. Be sure to make your video title: Straight Takes [insert your Name]. For example: Straight Takes -- Jolie in Austin
  3. Send an email to info@sevenstraightnights.org with the link so we can add your video to our Straight Takes page

Ideas to help you with your video statement:

  • What is motivating you (your family, your group) to Stand up Straight for Equal Rights? How are you currently involved with LGBT rights? What does it mean, to you, to be a straight advocate?
  • What role do you see yourself (family, spouse, group, etc.) playing as an advocate? What do you want your children to take from this?
  • What message do you want to send out to other fair-minded straight people? What do you want to say to/about the legislature/politicians of your state?

Please keep your commentary respectful and positive. Our goal is to educate more fair-minded straight people who don't yet have LGBT equality on their radar screen.

Thank you for participating.
