Statement: I see Seven Straight Nights as a great chance for straight New Yorkers to stand up to be counted and to declare ourselves accountable for bringing about absolute equality for our LGBT brothers and sisters. When I first became involved in planning 7SN NYC event I had to admit to myself all the ways in which I've failed to stand up for my gay friends –sometimes by simply not speaking up when I hear derogatory jokes about the gay & transgender community.

The reality is that our LGBT friends face challenges everyday in our society. I believe the time is now for straight allies to step up, stand up and stand out and do something pro-active about this blatant injustice that unfortunately, and unbelievable for that matter, still exists in this day and age.

Having grown up in different parts of the world, I know that New York City really is seen as a leader for progress. I hope this city's reach takes our call to action to as many straight people as possible and helps turn them into allies.
