Action Location: Atlanta, Georgia
Action Leader: Billiee Pendleton-Parker
Action Date: Sunday, September 14th
Statement: I have no biological children, but I count MANY Georgia Tech students as 'mine.' I deem it an honor and a privilege to work with some of our country's brightest minds and most caring hearts. How can I not nurture the good in EVERYone? As a board member of the Atlanta chapter of PFLAG, as an advocate for/trainer of GT's Safe Space program, as an informal adviserfor GT's Pride Alliance, as a mentor for numerous GLBTQ students and straight allies/activists, as a friend to whom many have 'come out' to, as a volunteer in the greater Atlanta community, I am compelled to do all I can forothers. Paraphrasing the words of civil rights activist, Congressman John Lewis: "Sometimes, you just have to get in the way."
Billiee Pendleton-Parker--coordinated (with a colleague) the Seven Straight Nights for Equality ‘07 in Atlanta at the MLK Center. She is in her 21st year as an educator and administrator at Georgia Tech.
