Action Location: Southlake, Texas

Action Leaders: Reverend Tony Lorenzen

Action Dates: Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

Statements: I am an action leader for 7SN because until all are truly equal, none are truly equal. I am motivated as a religious leader to become an Action Leader for 7SN to show that religious leaders and communities can be safe and welcoming places for the GLBT community and allies in the struggle for LGBT equality. Religious leaders and communities need to take this stance because religious communities are the source for the majority of the discriminatory, hurtful, and hateful attitudes expressed towards the LGBT community. I, along with my congregation at Pathways Unitarian Universalist Church in Southlake, TX, believe that people of faith need to step forward as GLBT allies to work for full civil rights on behalf our LGBT brothers and sisters, including the right to marry, adopt children, and be safe and free from discrimination at school and work. I call on the elected officials of Texas to repeal the constitutional ban on gay marriage in Texas as it creates a separate status of citizen, and separate is not equal. We are at our best as Texans and Americans when We the People means all the people. Join us in a vigil in support of GLBT justice and equality.
